STEVENS COUNTY FILING INFORMATION
According to Stevens County Auditor Lori Larsen, filing in person and online for all Partisan and non-partisan elected positions that will appear on the November 3, 2020 General Election ballot, will begin on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. and end Friday, May 15, 2020 at 4:30 P.M. The first day that a Declaration of Candidacy may be received in the Auditor’s office through the mail is Monday, April 27, 2020 (References, R.C.W. 29A.24.050, 29A.24.080 and 29A.20.200). Any filings arriving before or after the filing dates will not be accepted.
Only individuals residing within a district that are registered voters may file for a position. Registered voters residing within a joint school district must file with the county designated by the State Board of Education as the county to which the joint school district is considered as belonging under (RCW 29A.24.070). Applicants filing for a position, which has an annual salary, will pay a filing fee at the time of filing. If a void in candidacy occurs, at the time of closing, a special 3-day filing period will be opened for that position.
The Primary Election will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2020.
Drawing by lot to determine the order in which all candidates names will appear on the General and Primary Election ballot will be held at 9:00 A.M. in room 106 of the Stevens County Courthouse on Monday, May 18, 2020. The last day for candidates to withdraw their candidacy will be Monday May 18, 2020 (RCW 29A.24.131) and there will be no withdrawal period for candidates who file during a special filing period.

Q – What are the qualifications for filing?
A – All candidates must reside within the district for which they are filing and be a registered voter at the time of filing.
-Candidates for US Senate must be 30 years old and a citizen for at least 9 years.
-Candidates for US Congress must be 25 years old and a citizen for at least 7 years.
-Candidates for State Supreme Court, District Court, and County Superior Court Judge must be a member of the Washington State Bar Association.
